The Forest Grove Track and Field team had a fantastic start to their season! They had their first meet a few weeks ago, and it was a great opportunity for the 140 member team to get comfortable competing.
Some highlights from the home meet included Max Norman winning the 800 meters and tying with his brother Quincy in the 3,000 meters. Hyrum Hansen ran a speedy 400 meters and placed first. Dillon James, a first-year athlete, placed second in the high jump, and Andrew Stephan won pole vault while setting a personal record.
On the women’s side, Hannah Aguirre won both the 1500 meters and 3,000 meters races. Jessica Pineda Olvera, a freshman, led the way for the sprinters placing second in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. Another impressive performance was, state qualifier, Mila Lumae winning the pole vault.
Both the men’s and women’s teams are excited for what this season has in store. With a strong group of upperclassmen and a huge group of freshman and first-year athletes, the whole team is excited for what is to come. Come to their next home meet on April 12th to see your Vikings win some races and set some new personal records!
